The Church in Smyrna

Revelation 2:8-11

Here is a word from the First and Last,
Who knows the future and conquered the past.
If you are from Smyrna unite in prayer,
For Satan is planning an offensive there.

The devil is coming in rage and ire
To snuff out your hope and spiritual fire.
In spite of your poverty, suffering, and need,
He sees how you’re rich in love and good deeds.

There are some from the synagogue of Satan
Who claim to be true but Christ they’ve forsaken.
These false believers whose faith has failed
Will unite with the devil to put you in jail.

All will be tested, many in prison
Forcing each home to make a decision.
Some will be tested even to death,
Yet remain faithful until their last breath.

So face the future with a smile on your face.
Place your trust in His love and grace.
Don’t let Satan’s threats get you down
For God has a blessing, a beautiful crown.

Revelation 2:8-11
8 "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. 9 I know your afflictions and your poverty-yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. 11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death. (NIV)
